Following this morning's Fifa Women's World Cup opener between Ireland and Australia, RTÉ has apologised for sound and picture issues, as thousands of spectators were affected throughout the tie.
The historic clash was watched by 75,784 at the ground, but ongoing issues with the national broadcasters' coverage left many at home frustrated and taking to social media.

There were numerous complaints about commentary being out of sync, causing play to broadcast behind the action being viewed across the country.
Furthermore, RTÉ Player's stream also stopped working during the first half of the game, leaving many to turn toward ITV for uninterrupted coverage.

RTÉ issued an apology on-screen during the fixture, acknowledging the inadequate sound quality. They also took to Twitter to advise that they were working to fix the sound issues as quickly as possible.

Australia started the brighter of the two, cheered on by the home support.
Pauw's side stood firm in their defensive structure and offered ample threat on the counterattack.
Sam Kerr was a notable omission from the Matildas, and her absence was felt in the hosts attacking phases.
The turning point came in the 51st minute. The home side were awarded a penalty, which was converted by Catley.
Ireland responded with a valiant effort and had the hosts on the back foot for the remainder of the game.
Megan Connolly nearly sealed a dramatic injury-time equaliser from a free-kick, but her effort went marginally over the bar.
All eyes turn to Wednesday’s clash with Canada and ample opportunity to seal a historic win down under.
