Wexford FC secured safe passage to the next round of the FAI Cup after a comprehensive three-nil victory against Avondale United at Ferrycarrig Park last night (Friday, July 21).
Goals from Ethan Boyle, Aaron Doran, and Eoin Kenny ensured that James Keddy's side saw off their non-league opponents, following up their fine victory in Bray last weekend.

Cup fixtures always offer the possibility of a giant-killing result, and Keddy was aware of the threat that Avondale brought to the South East.
An assured start from the home side saw an early opportunity through Corban Piper after four minutes. He found himself on the end of a swift break and was unfortunate with his effort.
The home side continued to knock on the door but were frustrated with their end product.
The deadlock was eventually broken after 45 minutes from the spot after Mark Hanratty was brought down in the area.
Boyle stepped up and calmly slotted home, sending his side into the half-time break with a deserved lead.

The second half was dominated by the Ferrycarrig outfit and they doubled their lead after 62 minutes.
The impressive Thomas Oluwa supplied a delicate chip into the box, and Doran slotted home into the bottom-right corner.
