Waterford FC star makes the move to Shrewsbury Town

Waterford FC defender Tunmise Sobowale has completed a move to English outfit Shrewsbury Town for an undisclosed fee.

The versatile player made 19 appearances in the League last season and has been utilised in a variety of roles.

Sobowale has signed a one-year deal with the option to extend in the club's favour.

The Blues released an official statement on Waterfordfc.ie. It reads: "Waterford FC can confirm that Tunmise Sobowale has joined Shrewsbury Town for an undisclosed fee.

"The defender played with the Blues Academy before moving on to first-team football.

"Tunmise has almost 100 first-team league appearances including spells with Finn Harps and Athlone Town.

Waterford FC would like to thank Tunmise for all his efforts with the club and wish him the best of luck for the future.”

Shrewsbury will line out in the English Football League One in the upcoming season alongside Fleetwood Town.

The player has welcomed the move, and as reported by the Shropshire Star, he is eager to display his talents with his new club.

“I’m powerful, fast, direct going forward, passionate about the game and about doing well for the club,” he said.

Matt Taylor is the head coach for the League One side and is looking forward to working with Sobowale.

“Tunmise is a player that we have been monitoring since I arrived at the club. He has very good athletic capabilities and is determined to prove himself in League One,” he said.

Shrewsbury are in pre-season action on Saturday, July 15, against West Brom, with a 3:00 pm start at The Hawthorns.
