Carlow soccer star Padraig Amond has been voted the February winner of the 2016 South East Sports Star Awards with Beat 102-103 and Mount Wolseley Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort, Tullow, Co. Carlow.
Padraig was nominated for the award in recognition of his sensational form this season for Grimsby Town who play in the English National League (formerly known as the Conference). The forward is currently on 27 goals in 34 appearances, making him the most prolific striker in the top 5 divisions in English football.
Padraig is the second monthly winner of the 2016 South East Sports Star Award after Kilkenny sailor Douglas Elmes won the January award. He will now go on as a nominee for the 2016 South East Sports Star of the Year Award, which will be announced at Mount Wolseley in early 2017.
The other nominees for the February award were Glenmore GAA club in Kilkenny, Tipperary powerlifter Patricia O'Halloran, Waterford hurler Austin Gleeson, and the Wexford All-Ireland winning darts team.
