A club statement reads: "We are delighted to confirm the arrival of winger Karl Chambers to Wexford FC!
"Chambers is an experienced League of Ireland man, at 26 years old he has played regularly in the Premier and First Divisions with Longford Town since 2016!
"He was a key member of the Longford Town side that won promotion in 2020, with 132 senior LOI appearances under his belt. He joins Ethan Boyle, and three former Longford teammates in Aaron Robinson, Mark Hanratty and Ben Lynch for the 2023 season!"
New manager James Keddy had stated intent for a strong backbone down the spine of his new-look side and he has cultivated that in just a week of transfer activity.
As well as adding familiar faces from Longford, the club announced the signing of Wexford-born defender Ethan Boyle.
Previously speaking to SportsBeat, Wexford's Keddy reiterated that experience was key for his side: "For the different positions, I'm looking for a little bit of experience down the spine of the team.
"My team will be very organised and very disciplined."
This new-look Wexford side is shaping up for a strong playoff push in 2023 and fans of the Black and Pink Brigade will be hopeful for the prospect of a successful season.
