Waterford's Robin Dawson uses knowledge of the course to get within two shots of Irish Open lead

Having just made the cut yesterday, Waterford's Robin Dawson has shot up the leaderboard on day three of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open.

A six-under-par round of 64 has moved him to seven-under-par and within two shots of the overnight leader Zander Lombard.

Dawson, who is playing on a sponsor invite this week, feels his familiarity with the course at Lahinch has helped

He said: "The links golf is definitely a help, I've played this course a lot and I've played it in all weathers, all different kinds of winds, so I think that might be a big factor.

"Even my caddy has played here a hundred times, so it's great to have that kind of knowledge around the course."

Cormac Sharvin is five-under-par, Padraig Harrington four-under and Shane Lowry two-under.

However, it has been a nightmare start to his third-round for Seamus Power sho has dropped four shots on his first five holes to slip back to level-par.
