An international business consortium is reported to have expressed interest in taking over Waterford United Football Club, which holds the potential to make the club the richest in the Republic.
The Suir-side club has struggled since relegation in 2006, however this move is regarded with those close to the club as a game changer in the League of Ireland.
The identity of the consortium is unknown as of yet.
A statement released by the club in April last outlined that the club will require at least €80,000 to survive to October.
Speaking exclusively to WLR's Off The Ball, manager Roddy Collins remained tight lipped on the possibility of a takeover, but revealed that the investors had paid a visit to the club last Friday and were "very impressed" by what they saw.
The Waterford United boss went on to say that if the buy-out goes ahead, the club will have the resources at hand to make it "the most powerful... in the country."
