A club statement reads: "Nolan has signed a contract extension for 2023 as Danny Searle continues to build his squad ahead of this year’s promotion push.
"The 34-year-old spent the best part of 15 years playing his football in England and Scotland, where he earned himself three international caps for the Republic of Ireland, before returning to his hometown club in July 2021."
Speaking to WaterfordFC.ie, Nolan said: "I am delighted to have signed a new contract with my hometown club.
"We all want promotion and getting the club back to where it should be and that’s our aim for 2023.
"The gaffer is putting together a really competitive squad; I’m really happy to be part of that and I can’t wait to get the season going."
The news comes one week after the signing of American defender Giles Phillips.
He made the move from English side Aldershot Town, reinforcing an already formidable squad for the new season.
Speaking after his move, Phillips said: "I am very excited to be here and excited to get going for the new season.
"I spoke to the gaffer and due to working with each other at Aldershot, we know each other well. He sold me the Waterford package – I can’t wait.
"I want to keep the goals out at the back, keep as many clean sheets are possible and help this club get back to the First Division.
"I have met some of the lads and they’ve been very welcoming so I just can’t wait to get going."
