Waterford Senior football manager Tom McGlinchey has stepped down.
Tom oversaw the Déise footballers for the past four seasons, guiding them to a first Championship win since 2011 this summer with victory over Wexford.
Speaking to his local station, Tom said he informed the County Board that he wouldn’t be seeking another term as Déise boss.
“I’ve four very happy years completed in Waterford, and was delighted to be involved for the four years, I just came to a decision that four years was a good lifespan to be involved as a manager”.
Tom says he sent a message to all his panel informing them of his decision not to seek another term as manager.
“There’s a lot of lovely highlights: the McGrath Cup being won in 2015; even though it was a loss, the display against Cork in Munster last year and culminating in the Wexford Championship win this summer, and that’ll never be taken away from us”.
Tom thanked all the the players and backroom team he worked with over the past four years and says there was always a great bond between the squad and management, while he also paid tribute to the support from the County Board during his tenure.
