Tipperary are the All Ireland Senior Hurling Champions for 2016

Tipperary  2-29  Kilkenny   2-20

Tipperary were unbeatable in Croker this afternoon.

Kilkenny and Tipperary battled it out for the Liam MacCarthy Cup at Croke Park in front of 82,000 supporters.

The two sides last  met in the final in 2014 when Kilkenny won a dramatic replay.

The Cats also beat Tipperary in the 2011 and 2009 finals, while Tipp won in 2010.

But today it's the Tipperary who were victorious.

It was a tightly contested first half but the Premier county ran away with it towards the end.

The Premier county had the edge at half time when the score was Tipp 0-14 Kilkenny 0-12.

At that stage TJ Reid had scored five points for Kilkenny while Seamus Callanan scored four points for Tipp who also had several wides.

Kilkenny keeper Eoin Murphy started despite talk ahead of the game that he wouldn't because of an ankle injury.

Both sides came back fighting after half time with Kevin Kelly scoring the first goal of the game  at 41 minutes.

Tipp clawed back and had a further boost 47 minutes in when Bubbles O'Dwyer scored giving them a 4 point lead.

Another goal for each team followed but the points kept coming for Tipp.
