Galway are in fifth position in the League of Ireland Women's Premier Division, 12 points behind leaders Peamount. Cliftonville are in second spot in the Women's Premiership, fighting it out with rivals Glentoran for domestic honours.
The new competition has supplied an additional avenue for silverware and has been embraced across the Island.
Wexford Youths had hoped to add another trophy to their impressive collection but fell agonisingly short in a semi-final penalty defeat.

It was a bitter pill to swallow, as Rianna Jarrett and her teammates had set their sights on salvaging a disappointing season.
The South East side are in sixth position in the table, five points behind their last-four opponents.
A hotly-contested encounter ended with the sides level at 1-1 after 90 minutes, with penalties going 4-3 in favour of Galway.
A tough way to go out in a Semi-Final but we’re looking forward to returning to action after the World Cup break.
