12 years after he last played for Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo has returned back to the club that turned him into an international star.

It was reported earlier that the Red Devils had offered Juventus €25 million for the Portuguese winger, who is set to sign a two-year contract at Old Trafford pending a medical and visa clearance.

Ronaldo scored 118 goals in 292 games under Alex Ferguson's tutelage, but was set earlier this week to sign for Manchester rivals City, with a short statement by United nodding to Rinaldo's snub of the Citizens.

"Everyone at the club looks forward to welcoming Cristiano back to Manchester" read the short statement, which didn't confirm the transfer fee nor the contract length.

The Portuguese star left the Juventus training ground earlier today following a three year stint that saw the 2016 European Championship winner fail to win Europe's biggest club prize with the Old Lady.

Ronaldo signed from Real Madrid for a record transfer fee for a 30+ year old, moving to Turin for €100 million, where he won two Serie A titles along with domestic cup success - despite the Scudetto returning to Milan with Inter last year.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner, was heavily linked with a move to their rivals earlier today after telling his current team Juventus that he wants to leave.
