Fitzgerald announced he was leaving the Cork camogie backroom team in the wake of Sunday’s All Ireland final defeat to Kilkenny.
The Clare legend previously led Waterford to the 2008 All Ireland final.
Since that memorable year, he claimed All-Ireland and Division 1 titles with Clare in 2013 and 2016 respectively, before leading Wexford to their first Leinster crown in 15 years in 2019.
