There is more than a murmur, within high-ranking Kilkenny hurling circles, that Brian Cody's time as Senior Hurling manager is ending.
Speculation about the Kilkenny legend has been accelerating at a rapid pace since Tuesday morning, following defeat in his 17th All-Ireland final.
It's reported that senior figures anticipate an announcement, although there is nobody willing to confirm this.
There had been some expectation this evening that a statement confirming the news would be circulated but that did not materialise, says @KeysColm https://t.co/1CFKi3L1Ai

Sunday's defeat to Limerick was the sixth time Kilkenny had lost an All-Ireland final under the watch of Cody. On route to the final, he achieved an amazing 18th Leinster title.
Speaking at the team's homecoming on Monday, Cody said he was "never prouder of a team" than the side that was defeated in Croke Park.
He continued: "The real story is that Kilkenny haven't gone away and never will.
"Winning the Liam MacCarthy will happen for this great team soon and in the meantime, Kilkenny is still the capital of hurling!"
Beat Sport have reached out to the County for clarification on the speculation but are yet to receive a response.
