Nowlan Park has been named as one of twelve stadiums to feature in Ireland's 2023 World Cup bid.
The Taoiseach officially launched the next stage of Ireland's entry earlier today.
The plan would utilise stadiums north and south of the border to host the competition.
The hurling mecca has a capacity of 27.800, however that may increase if the bid is deemed successful.
Other GAA stadiums central to the plan include: Croke Park, Casement Park, and a newly renovated Park Uí Chaoimh.
The government has agreed to foot the more than 100 million euro cost of hosting the World Cup.
Speaking at the launch, former Irish captain Brian O'Driscoll, says it would be a huge boost for the country.
"It will capacitate small towns and villages who will embrace other countries as their own", said O'Driscoll. "There'll be nothing else spoken about coming up to and for the duration of the tournament. I think we'll do a phenomenal job."
