The event takes place on the Marina Bay Street Circuit was the first street circuit in Asia designed for Formula One races.

The track consists of 61 laps and was first raced in 1966, and since 2008, every race at the circuit has featured at least one safety car, a total of 21 safety car deployments, as of 2019.

Sebastian Vettel stood atop the podium when he crossed the line first in his Ferrari in 2019.

The race was called off in both 2020 and 2021 due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, however, racing is expected to resume at Marina Bay this year.
