A source close to the group said that the addition of the pair was a serious investment decision because of their experience in building global brands.
The pair have been attracted to the bid as a result of its focus towards diversity.
Their involvement in the Chelsea auction is surprising - not least because it's widely noted of Hamilton's affiliation with Arsenal.
This is not the first time that a famous sports person has backed a Premier League club - NBA star LeBron James has been a small shareholder with Liverpool for more than a decade.
