Ireland could be hosting its first ever major Cricket tournament.
The country has been named as a preferred co-host of the men's Twenty 20 World Cup with England, Wales and Scotland for 2030.
The International Cricket Council announced the news today.
It will be the first time Ireland will host multiple matches at a major World cricket event.
Cricket Ireland CEO Warren Deutrom says co-hosting the tournament will help make the sport a mainstream one, and that the awarding of the tournament is a huge moment for Irish cricket.
"We've seen in the growth in Irish Cricket over the last 10-15 years, that the participation in major events such as that, really helps raise the profile of the game in Ireland.
"To actually have a number of matches - we don't know which yet - taking place on the island of Ireland is going to be tremendously exciting. To really galvanize all of that lead in process of generating and exciting that real passion, among the young people particularly, in our country."
