Waterford's Thomas Barr gave one of the all-time great Irish Olympic athlete performances this afternoon with a stunning 4th place in the final of the 400m hurdles at the Rio Olympics, smashing his own national record which he set only two days ago.
Yes he just missed out on a medal by the narrowest of margins, but considering the injuries the Dunmore man has had to put up with in the run up to the games, it was a phenomenal achievement to even reach the final.
After the race Athletics Ireland caught up with Thomas outside the stadium, when he was interrupted by his parents who simply couldn't contain their happiness.
