The superstar spoke of his enjoyment to be on the track after an impressive display at the iconic venue.
AlphaTauri Team Principal, Franz Tost, has welcomed the prospect of the veteran racer into his team. “There’s no doubt about his driving skills, and he already knows many of us, so his integration will be easy and straightforward," he told formula1.com.
"The team will also profit a lot from his experience, as he is an eight-time Formula 1 Grand Prix winner."
AlphaTauri have endured a troubling campaign and sits bottom of the constructors’ standings. De Vries struggled in his maiden season, and despite his best efforts, was unable to claim any points.
Having participated in ten Grand Prix the team have opted to bring in a more experienced driver.
Ricciardo, who has won eight races in his career, had previously driven for the Faenza-based squad in their Toro Rosso outfit for two seasons in 2012 and 2013 before moving to Red Bull in 2014.
His return to the team will surely be an exciting development, with the likeable figure remaining publicly vocal about his desire to return to elite competition.
