Chelsea have rejected Manchester United's opening offer for midfielder Mason Mount which is believed to be worth £40m.
Despite a summer of uncertainty over the ownership of the Manchester giants, United are keen to bolster their midfield options ahead of the new season.

Mount is in Contract with the London side until June 2024 and is one of several shortlisted players Erik ten Hag is keen on obtaining.
The talented Englishman played a starring role in Chelsea's successes in the Champions League and the Club World Cup, earning recognition in discussions for the Ballon d'Or.
What began as a rumour has quickly escalated into reports of an agreement on personal terms and a certain feeling of inevitability surrounding the transfer of Mason Mount to Manchester United.

As reported by Sky Sports News, ten Hag's side is assessing several players and have a set valuation in mind for Mount. A second bid is deemed imminent by the club.
Speaking about the League Cup Champions' long-standing interest in the player, Sky Sports News senior reporter Dharmesh Sheth has highlighted a significant gap in valuations between both clubs.
"We were thinking whether £55m is as far as United are willing to go to and Chelsea are wanting £70m - but this is starting at £40m," he said.
Moises Caicedo is another player attracting attention from a host of leading Premier League sides, and it is United have asked to be "kept informed" on any developments with the 21-year-old.

Former Ireland and Red Devil legend Denis Irwin was on hand to officially launch the friendly on Tuesday (June 13).
“Manchester United has strong links to Ireland through a great roster of past players that has also represented the national team," he said.
"The prospect of this friendly against Athletic Bilbao at the Aviva Stadium is hugely exciting.
"The team has always attracted huge support in Ireland, and so playing this match in Dublin will, I’m sure, make it an even more special occasion for the players and fans alike."
