This October, we were joined by 14 transition year students from across the South East. The students were selected from over 100 applications received.
The TY Media Week programme is supported by Comisiun na Meán and is devised by national training network Learning Waves and Beat 102-103. During the week, the secondary school students learned about Media Law, they delved how to critically analyse content that is published on their social media feed along with how to edit and hone into their presentation skills, and so much more.
All of the students worked together to produce an end of week audio programme which was broadcast on Beat on October 29th and 30th on the Takeover, which you can listen back to now.
Exploring a variety of topics spanning from the gratitude, sports, and beauty to delving into spooky stories from the South East.
Before engaging in conversations with professionals, they hit the streets of Waterford to conduct enlightening vox pops. Once they gained interviewing skills, the students spoke with a spectrum of individuals, including wellness educators, educators, and sports professionals. The students posed thought-provoking questions, such as the relationship between sports and mental health, beauty standards for younger people, practicing gratitude, and much more.
Listen back now to hear each of their audio packages.
