Vinny presents Beat Breakfast with Niall & Trish each weekday morning from 6.50am. He also presents Weekend Beat Breakfast on Saturday mornings, and is the voice of sport each morning on Beat.

1. Where are you from?
Wexford, born and bred! #YellowBelly4Life!

2. What do you do at Beat? Your typical day….
I co-present Beat Breakfast with Niall and Trish. I’m in the office before half-six and my first job is to write the morning sports bulletin and check the newspapers to see which stories will be of interest to our listeners. Then, once the show starts, it’s anything goes. We don’t know from day to day, and sometimes hour to hour what’s going to happen so you have to be ready to react to any topic! After the show, I archive material, deciding what will be used for podcasting and which bits we’ll play on the Weekend Beat Breakfast every Saturday. And I also write questions for our daily quiz – Beat The Bomb.

3. What does your perfect day look like?
A lazy day is my perfect day. The kind of day when you know you don’t have to leave the house. You don’t care if it’s raining and there’s a big game of footy on TV to look forward to!

4. How would your friends describe you?
Ha! Probably a bit grumpy and cynical, but with enough sleep in the tank, I can be pretty lively!

5. Recommend one place in the South East that, to you, is a ‘must-see’.
Although I love Wexford, I have to say the Waterford coast is hard to beat. The Copper Coast drive is stunning, and Dunmore East is a must – especially during summer.

6. Where is the most memorable place you have travelled to in the world and why?
I went on a solo trip to Rome a few years back. It was somewhere I had always wanted to see, just because of the history associated with the place. I’m sure anyone who’s been there will agree that it’s every bit as beautiful as you can imagine. The obvious spots like the Collosseum, the Vatican, the Pantheon etc. are all pretty awe-inspiring. But just wandering the streets and sitting outside one of the many, many cafés is as good a way to spend a few days as I can think of.

7. Tell us one thing that might surprise us about you.
Let me see…I’ve been to see Kylie twice?!

8. If you were a superhero, what special powers would you have?
Ooh, I don’t know if I’d like to be immortal. Maybe time travel instead.

9. Who is your favourite music artist (Band or solo) and why?
There are so many! Metallica probably gets my vote for ‘favourite band of all time’. Just because of what they did in the 80’s – they pretty much shaped a whole genre of music for decades to come and inspired almost every metal band that came after. But I’m also a huge Counting Crows fan so it’s hard to pick one over the other sometimes.

10. Name that one track everyone should listen to…
One?! Impossible! Well, anything Metallica recorded in the eighties for starters. But I’m trying to think more of a pop vibe… My favourite ever pop song is Waiting For A Star To Fall – and there was someone in the office recently who had never heard it! I was shocked! Every one should know and love that tune. But look, I could be here all day naming songs!
