Hundreds of zombies will be taking to the streets of Clonmel this Halloween for the Living Dead Walk.
The annual Clonmel Halloween Walk was introduced five years ago by Clonmel Borough Council & An Garda Siochána and this year's theme is the 'Living Dead.'
The walk will leave from Market Place at 7pm on Monday evening, bringing the assembled public on a journey along Emmet Street, Parnell Street and Dillon Street, culminating at the Kickham Barracks Plaza with a finale of entertainment, fire dancing, hot apple juice, treats, and the very popular costume competition.
Members of the public are invited to get into the Living Dead spirit and dress as gory characters or make one up! To help with this, there will be a public art-making session on Saturday 29th October from 11 to 2pm during which parents, children and members of the public can help make masks, decorations and dressing for the Finale venue, which this year will be situated at the Kickham Barracks. Practical advice on costume will also be available on the day.
Coordinated by Theresia Guschlbauer of 2canDO Arts, the event will again feature sideshows presented by local performers throughout the route, as well as involving children and communities from the RAPID areas, teenagers from local dance & acting schools and adult performers from the wider Clonmel & Cahir drama network. All together, over 50 people will be seen in short scenes, sketches and songs drawn from famous films, plays and musicals.
Assembly for the walk on Halloween night will be at Market place in front of Supervalu from 6.30pm onwards where face-painters will help with last minute touch-ups.
The competition aimed at children, families, teenagers/young adults and community groups will celebrate the best and most original homemade outfits.
You can find out more about the event on their official Facebook page.
