Today is World Mental Health Day.
The day is used to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health.
According to Mental Health Ireland, 39 per cent of people exercise to improve their mental well-being while 28 per cent talk to friends or family.
Speaking to Beat News, IT Carlow's SU officer for Welfare and Equality Jack Hogan says mental health is an ongoing issue:
"Days like this are incredibly important, not just for students alone but for everyone in the world because mental health is an ongoing precedent; it's never gonna end, it's one of those things that as long as people are kicking about people are gonna struggle with their mental health.
So, days like these when we take the time to recognize that there's an ongoing battle are so important because it makes people really sit down and realise that there are people that need help and realise that maybe they at times need help too."
