A bride-to-be in Britain faked terminal breast cancer to trick her workmates into paying for her wedding.
The Metro reports that Julie Parker, a care home worker from Manchester, told her colleagues that she only had twelve months to live.
Staff rallied behind Julie, raising over €1,800 in an organised collection so she could marry her fiance David Parker, who also worked at the home.
The couple married at a registry office before having a reception at their workplace.
The couple's scheme soon began to unravel when Julie showed no signs of ill-health a number of months on.
When confronted by her manager, whose husband happened to be suffering from terminal cancer, Julie broke down and confessed.
The woman, who stood before Tameside's Magistrates' Court in Manchester earlier this week, was found guilty of fraud by false representation. Her husband was cleared of the same charge.
Both employees have since been relieved of their duties at the care home.
