Wexford woman to be sentenced for manslaughter in Sydney, Australia

A Wexford woman who killed her fiance in Sydney has told a judge she didn't leave him because she loved him.

Cathrina (Tina) Cahill, from New Ross, Co Wexford has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of David Walsh.

The 27-year-old has pleaded guilty to manslaughter after she stabbed David Walsh in the neck on the 18th February 2017 in the home they shared in Australia.

Cahill previously gave evidence about his repeated violence, including punching strangers and biting her all over her body, his accusations of her sleeping with other men and his deleting texts from her phone.

The fatal attack took place after Mr Walsh launched an unprovoked attack on a man who was invited to their home by Tina Cahill and their two other female housemates.

Justice Peter Johnson, who said the case involved unusual features such as a type of two-way domestic violence, will sentence Ms. Cahill on the 12th of December.
