Wexford General Hospital re-introduces visitor restrictions

Four wards at Wexford General Hospital will once again be under restrictions for the foreseeable future.

A statement released yesterday by management at the hospital has confirmed that a 'temporary pause on visiting' to the Joseph's, Aidan's, Florence's, and Bridget's wards has been re-introduced, having only been lifted last month.

The hospital says it's "due to the high levels of Covid-19 in the community and the continued increase of patients attending Wexford General with Covid-19" in a statement released yesterday afternoon, with advice coming from the infection control team at the facility.

According to latest figures released by the HSE, 11 people are currently hospitalised with the virus at the facility, with one person in ICU. Wexford also has the second-lowest 7-day incidence rate in the country per county, with 197.7 cases per 100,000 people. That's compared to Waterford's 573.3, with University Hospital Waterford still open to visitors.

Visiting on compassionate grounds can still be arranged by contacting the Clinical Nurse Manager/Nurse in Charge of the affected wards.
