We're avoiding snow... for now: Met Éireann warn of sudden temperature drop

We've been enjoying a mild January so far, but the weather is expected to get much colder this week.

From Wednesday, temperatures will fall to below normal with frost expected.

Meteorologist with Met Éireann, Siobhan Ryan, says we're avoiding snow for now:

"Wednesday night into Thursday, it looks like a very significant frost", she said.

"On Thursday itself, we're going to see lots of sunshine but very cold right throughout the day [with] frost persisting up until mid-morning.

"Later in the week, there are further fronts moving across the country", Ryan added.  "You might get wintery falls in northern parts."

Meanwhile, Carlow Weather's Alan O'Reilly expects cooler days ahead with frost and snow on upland areas.
