A status yellow warning has been issued for three counties in Munster.
Met Eireann says Waterford, Kerry and Cork will see localised heavy rainfall, strong gusty winds and hazardous driving conditions.
The warning will come into place from midday until 11 o clock tonight.
Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather says while the farmers will be happy, rainfall is still below normal:
"We firmly are in Autumn."
"The rainfall has certainly been welcomed by many farmers, but rainfall totals are still below normal."
"We will expect to see some more rainfall, and we still will be below normal rainfall levels."
"Temperatures are generally around normal."
