A total of 1.38 million passenger journeys were recorded on the Waterford/Dublin rail line in 2018.
This represents a 9.5% increase on 2017.
Economic improvements, greater numbers of people in employment, and increased tourist numbers visiting the Waterford region have all contributed to the major increase in passenger numbers.
Nationally, Iarnrod Éireann recorded its highest ever number of passenger journeys in 2018, with over 47.9 million passenger journeys made across DART, Commuter and Intercity services.
