A motorist who ran a red light only to be caught by gardaí has had their car impounded.
The driver was stopped by gardaí in Waterford after they spotted an Audi A3 running a red light.
When gardaí caught up with the red Audi they found that the vehicle's tax had expired.
Waterford Gardaí saw this car driving through a red light recently. They were stopped and it was found that the car's tax had expired.

A fixed charge penalty notice was issued and the car was impounded.
Meanwhile in South Kilkenny, Thomastown's Road Policing Unit have arrested a motorist after testing positive for cocaine in a separate incident.
Gardaí stopped the driver when they spotted a vehicle driving erratically while on patrol in Mullinavat.
Proceedings are to follow.
