Waterford Fire Service is calling on people to memorise their Eircode after a blaze was brought under control this week.
Firefighters in the Déise were called to a garage fire in the Ballygunner area of the city and needed to use apparatuses and a high-pressure hose to douse the fire.
And while the contents of the garage, including a ride on lawnmower, were damaged, it could have been much worse.
The garage was attached to the side of the house, and the fire - given enough time - may have spread to the house itself.
However, the Waterford City Fire Service says that Eircode was key in helping crews get to the scene quickly, and avert a potential disaster.
