Operation Enable is currently underway across the country.
It's a multi-agency initiative between the Gardai, councils, the Irish Wheelchair Association and the Disabled Drivers Association of Ireland to remind motorists of the need to respect disabled parking bays.
There has been a recent upsurge in drivers illegally parking in disabled parking bays and also instances of people misusing the parking permits themselves.
Gardai in Waterford discovered a driver parked in a disabled bay and asked him to move on but were told he would move when he was "ready."
Closer inspection of the vehicle revealed it had no insurance and it was seized with a court appearance to follow.
