Waterford City & County Council have approved the planning for the North Quays Development.
The announcement wasn't due to be made for another 10 days.
Negotiations first commenced on the site almost 4 years ago.
The plans consist of a sustainable transport hub and the largest mixed-use real estate development in the South East.
