Duncannon in Co. Wexford is one of six beaches that have failed to meet minimum EU standards for water quality.
The popular resort has been named in a new report from the Environmental Protection Agency.
Other beaches included in the report are Merrion Strand, Rush South Merrion and Loughshinny in Co. Dublin, Youghal in Cork and Ballyloughnane in Galway.
93 per cent of beaches have excellent or very high quality bathing water, however at Merrion Strand seagual poo is being blamed for the poor water quality.
