Two people were left hanging by a literal thread at a popular theme park last night when a bungee chord supporting their ride snapped.
The incident happened after 10 pm on Wednesday, December 14th on the 'Slingshot Ride' at Hyde Park's Winter Wonderland — a London attraction popular with Irish tourists.
Footage captured and posted to Twitter shows two individuals seated inside a spherical cage being shot into the air before one of the cables suddenly snaps and violently tosses its occupants against one of the supporting arms.
The individuals were left suspended in the air by the one remaining bungee chord as they hung on for assistance.
In the below video, shaken onlookers can be heard screaming as the event unfolded. Please note that this video contains coarse language.

By the time emergency services had arrived at the scene the cage had been lowered and its occupants removed. There were no reported injuries.
Speaking to The Evening Standard, a Hyde Park Winter Wonderland spokesperson said: “We can confirm that a technical issue involving the reverse bungee occurred on Wednesday evening. Both riders were safely escorted off the ride, checked by our on-site medics and were not injured."
They continued: “Safety is our highest priority and the ride is closed while further investigation takes place. All of our rides undergo rigorous and regular safety checks by experienced members of staff trained in health and safety. We also provide regular training for all staff to ensure our visitors can enjoy a fun and safe experience."
All attractions with the exception of the 'Slingshot Ride' remain open at Hyde Park.
