UHW has advised that the public should not visit the hospital, unless absolutely critical, due to the current flu outbreak.
Meanwhile, a full ban on visitors is in place at Dungarvan Community Hospital, in a bid to curb the spread of the influenza virus there.
The HSE’s South East Community Healthcare services are appealing for the co-operation of all concerned, as the ban is in place in the interest of patient care.
Dungarvan Community Hospital regrets this inconvenience but it is necessary at this time to prevent the spread of these illnesses to both patients and staff.
Where appropriate, mobile phone contact between families has been advised as an alternative to visiting.
Exceptional circumstances will be catered for.
The situation at Dungarvan Community Hospital will be reviewed daily.
