Some of the South East's most historical tourist attractions are offering free access today.
On the first Wednesday of every month all sites managed by the Office of Public Works are open free of charge as a way of promoting Ireland's ancient past.
Some of the sites include Kilkenny Castle, Reginalds Tower, the John F Kennedy Arboretum and the Rock of Cashel.
Director of Waterford Treasures Eamon McEneaney says the initiative can also help the South East's Three Sisters bid to become European Capital of Culture.
"The one thing that binds us all together and what is very important that we all work together in the South East is first of all the fact that we promote Ireland's Ancient East. But certainly the three counties (Waterford, Wexford, Kilkenny) are the great Anglo Norman counties of Ireland and the Office of Public Works manages an awful lot of the important sites here so it's a great opportunity for people.
