That's when you compare that to building a Motorway linking Limerick to Cork.
Political reps from Tipperary have made their case to the Transport Minister for the upgrading of the Limerick to Waterford road.
TD’s, County Councillors and local authority officials met with Minister Shane Ross at Government buildings to show the benefits of linking both cities.
A similar call is being made to have a motorway link between Limerick and Cork, but people in Tipp are saying that connecting Limerick to the M8 in Cahir would serve that purpose and save nearly 400 million Euro in the process.
Cathaoirleach of Tipperary County Council Phyl Bugler explains what they said to Minister Shane Ross.
"We did a presentation to the minister highlighting the advantages of taking the motorway to Cahir and then connecting to the existing M8.
We highlighted all the advantages and the saving of public monies, using the spare capacity on the M8.
He said we made a good case, a good business case.
Whatever route is selected, the TII staff said yesterday that there would have to be justification for the route selected.
