Two South East projects are set to benefit as part of the Artist and Youth Work Residency Scheme 2018/19.
It's managed by the National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI) and funded by the arts council and the department of children and youth affairs.
This grant will allow each of these groups to work with professional artists and create pieces of art as diverse as documentaries, public arts and podcasts.
Garter Lane Arts Centre in Waterford is to get €1,500 - for a project that inspires a new way of working and thinking.
There's also the same funding boost going to Youth New Ross for a freedom of expression project through dance that allows young people to explore issues relevant to them.
Speaking on the announcement, Anne O’Gorman of the NYCI said: “We are delighted with the calibre of this year’s successful projects. They demonstrate the quality and variety of ways in which young people are working creatively with each other and in their local communities", she added.
"The themes that they have chosen to work on also show how socially engaged they are and how deeply they care about issues facing society."
Meanwhile, Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Dr Katherine Zappone, TD, welcomed the announcement saying that the initiative “Demonstrates the principle of partnership, which is a key priority for my Department. It is also in keeping with Outcome 2 of the National Youth Strategy 2015 – 2020, which provides that young people benefit from involvement in recreational and cultural opportunities including youth work, arts, and sports.”
