It's understood 2 people have received serious injuries in a crash on the Carlow Kildare border this morning.
The incident happened on the M9 motorway southbound between Junction 4 Castledermot and Junction 5 Tinryland.
An air ambulance was called to the scene and casualties were airlifted to hospital.
It's understood three vehicles were involved, 2 cars and a van.
The Southbound lane will be closed for a few hours, but it's understood the northbound lane has reopened.
The M9 is closed between Junctions 4 and 5 Southbound due to a collision. Traffic diversions are in place. Motorists are advised to take alternative routes.
