Young transgender people do much better in education when schools know how to accommodate different gender identities.
That's the message from the Transgender Equality Network, which is hosting the first ever conference for trans awareness among educators in Waterford today.
School authorities, teachers and principals will be encouraged to improve their knowledge and policies in the area.
