Trainer Henry De Bromhead says it means a lot to have a race named after his son Jack

The family of Jack De Bromhead say it means a lot to have a race named after him.

This year's Leopardstown Christmas hurdle will be named after the teen, who tragically died during a freak accident during a pony race in Kerry earlier this year.

It's the second race in his honour, in addition to the Maher’s Novices Hurdles at Cheltenham.

The Waterford jockey's father - Henry De Bromhead - says Jack would've loved to attend the festival:

"We were blown away by the gesture. I suppose, every bit of support you get gives you great strength."

"Jacky would have loved to have been over there at it.....it's amazing"
