Today marks World Theatre Day.
The celebration was first started in 1961 by the International Theatre Institute.
Director of "Someone Who'll Watch Over Me" by Frank McGuinness - an upcoming play in Waterford's Centre Arts - is Claire Smith, she tells us what makes theater so wonderful:
"It's something really special.
We all love our tv and films but going to the theater is a special moment.
It can be very magical, it can be a one off, each night can be slightly different.
It gives us a chance to escape, to identify, to cry, to laugh.
Something very powerful can happen on the night.
As an audience, you can identify with characters and be brought on this journey through the story"
