Tipp artist's portrait of Henry Shefflin is fit for a King

Kilkenny Hurling legend Henry Shefflin's portrait has been added to the National Gallery of Ireland.

The oil painting of the 10 time All-Ireland winner was commissioned as part of the Hennessy Portrait Prize.

The Artist is Cahir, Co. Tipp native Gerry Davis, he said,  "when I got this job to paint Henry I decided to paint a full figure because he's an athlete so I figured the body is a relevant aspect of what he's known for.

I also wanted to paint him in his own environment, so I went over to Kilkenny and took photographs of him in his home club of Ballyhale."
