One of Ireland’s most popular baby names may go global, thanks to Hozier.
From the old-school copybooks to the OMGWACA book series, the name, Aisling - pronounced ‘Ash-ling’ - is safely considered as one of our most beloved names
Over the weekend, the singer-songwriter tweeted a sweet story about an American woman’s connection with the name.
“There was a lovely (American) person at the signing today who asked me to sign an album for 'Aisling',” he began.
He said that she asked him to do so as she hopes to have a daughter one day and intends to call her Aisling.
I thought people in Ireland might like to hear that. (Aisling means 'dream' in Irish)
The tweet, which has now been liked over 21,000 times, has garnered some talk about the different ways to spell the name.
I love this! 💗(Just, please, folks, if you're going with Irish, keep it Irish...don't mangle it with strange visually-read American pronounciations! 😲)

I’ve heard of Aislinn but not Aisling. It is quite lovely.

Along with fans claiming that they've now added the name to their baby name list.
Aisling is now a shoe in for most popular girls name in the U.S. For 2019. So did your mom really add a 6th toe to your painting?
