Ryanair customers are being urged to avoid making a simple spelling mistake that could set them back €115.
In the rush to nab the cheapest possible flight fares it's pretty easy to rush through the booking procedure and make a mistake or two in the process.
However, there is one critical and admittedly easy to make typo that could set you back €115 - misspelling a passenger's name.
According to Ryanair policy, if a passenger's name on the booking form does not match that on the passport, customers are charged a processing fee of €115.
Whatsmore, those who book through a travel agent could be stung with a hefty €160 fine for the privilege of correcting the stated name on a booking.
Thankfully, there is a way to avoid paying the fine.
Customers who have booked their flight directly on the Ryanair.com website have a 48 hour grace period from the time of original booking, to correct any errors free of charge.
You can also correct minor spelling mistakes of up to 3 characters per name free of charge through the My Booking section up to 48 hours before scheduled departure.
Further changes will incur a fee of €115 via self-service online.
If those options fail, Ryanair states that it might be easier to book a new flight. Given how competitive the Irish budget airline can be - this may not be as extreme as it first sounds.
Our advice? Always double-check your booking before hitting the confirm button. It's not worth the stress!
