A teenage girl was airlifted from the Irish Sea in Courtown yesterday afternoon.
The child sustained a back injury while being towed by a jet ski in an inflatable doughnut.
The incident was reported to the Coast Guard shortly after 4pm on Friday near Ardamine Beach in Wexford.
Rescue 117 was sent to the scene and airlifted the young girl and her dad to University Hospital Waterford.
It is understood that RNLI volunteers from the Courtown lifeboat unit spent over half an hour treading water while holding the teenage girl above water until they could be assisted by a suitably equipped Coast Guard boat.
