Journalists had been looking for the exchanges under FOI requests but had been told they didn’t exist.
Leo Varadkar says he hadn’t been contacted to check his phone for records and the officer in charge had only looked at emails and letters.
Elsewhere, the Foreign Affairs Minister is also under pressure after he admitted deleting his exchanges saying his phone had been hacked before.
Higher Education Minister Simon Harris says Simon Coveney would be willing to clear up any confusion.
